Praecip
Policies

Accessibility policy.

Every family should be able to find the right school with ease. This policy sets out our commitment to an accessible platform, the standards we work toward, where we still fall short, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.

01Our commitment

Choosing a school is one of the most important decisions a family makes, and everyone deserves to make it with the same information. Praecip is committed to building a platform that people of all abilities can use, including those who rely on assistive technology or who browse in different ways.

Accessibility is not a one-off project for us; it is part of how we design, build and review the platform as it grows.

02The standard we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, the widely recognised international benchmark for accessible websites. These guidelines help us make content that is perceivable, operable, understandable and robust for as many people as possible.

03What we do

Measures we build into the platform include:

  • structuring pages with clear, meaningful headings and landmarks so they are easy to navigate with a keyboard or screen reader;
  • choosing colours and type with readability and sufficient contrast in mind, and avoiding conveying meaning through colour alone;
  • writing descriptive text for meaningful images and labelling form fields clearly;
  • keeping interactive elements operable by keyboard, with visible focus, and designing layouts that adapt to different screen sizes and zoom levels;
  • considering accessibility when we add new features, and revisiting older pages as we improve.

04Known limitations

We are honest about where we fall short. Praecip is being built actively, and some areas are not yet fully accessible:

  • some third-party or embedded content, such as maps and externally hosted media, may not fully meet our target standard;
  • a few older pages and complex interactive components are still being reviewed and improved;
  • documents and images provided by schools may vary in how accessible they are.

We are working to close these gaps, and your feedback helps us prioritise. If something stops you using the platform, please tell us and we will help directly while we fix it.

05Browsers and assistive technology

The platform is designed to work with current versions of major browsers and with common assistive technologies, including screen readers and keyboard navigation. For the best experience we recommend keeping your browser and assistive software up to date.

Helpful browser settings

Most browsers and devices let you increase text size, zoom the page, or enable a high-contrast or reading mode. The platform is built to respond to these settings.

06Feedback and getting help

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Praecip. If you encounter a barrier, or need information from the platform in a different format, please contact us using the details below, and tell us the page and what happened, so we can help quickly and put it right.

07Ongoing improvement

We review accessibility as part of our regular work and update this policy as the platform improves. When we make a material change we will revise the date at the top of this page. Our goal is steady, lasting progress toward a platform that works for every family.
