Muslim schools in Uganda

We include schools founded or sponsored by Muslim institutions, the Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA), the Tabliq community, the Aga Khan Development Network, the Bilal Islamic Institute, and individual mosque trusts. Nabisunsa Girls' School, Kibuli SS, the Aga Khan schools and the Iqra/Salaam network all sit in this group.

Most are. With the exception of dedicated madrasa programmes, Muslim-founded schools in Uganda generally admit learners of any faith. The Aga Khan schools are explicitly open-of-all-faiths. Islamic Religious Education and observance of prayer times form part of the timetable; learners of other faiths follow the equivalent RE syllabus.

Almost all follow the UNEB national curriculum and sit PLE, UCE and UACE. Many add Arabic, Islamic Religious Education and Qur'an as additional subjects alongside the national syllabus. A small number run dedicated madrasa streams in parallel with the UNEB programme.
