Every admissions season we get the same call: 'Should we put our daughter on the Cambridge track or stay with UNEB?' There is no universal answer, but there is a useful frame.
Cambridge gets you readability abroad, IGCSE and A-Level transcripts move through foreign admissions offices with no translation needed. UNEB, by contrast, is fully accepted across East African public universities and increasingly understood in the UK and US, particularly with strong A-Level results.
The cost gap matters more than most parents realise. A four-year Cambridge run at a Kampala school will typically cost two to three times the equivalent UNEB run. For families weighing this, the right question is not which curriculum is better, but which is better for your child given where you expect them to study at 18.
