About
Kyambogo University was created in 2003 through the merger of the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK), the Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK) and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE). It is Uganda's largest provider of teacher education and technical / vocational instructor training, alongside engineering, sciences and special-needs education.

What this school emphasises
The Praecip verdict
Kyambogo is the natural destination for prospective teachers, technical instructors and special-needs educators. Its three founding institutes give it unrivalled depth in those fields.
It is a large, busy, practically-minded university rather than a research powerhouse, and for its core mission of preparing educators and technicians, that is exactly the point.
