About
Established in 1905 as Uganda's first girls' school, Gayaza has been the country's most consistent producer of women leaders for more than a century. Its motto, Never Give Up, is woven through every dormitory, every hymn, every classroom.
Opened in 1905 as the first school for girls in Uganda, Gayaza set out to prove a girl's mind was worth educating, and has been proving it ever since.
Today it serves 950 students alongside 90 teaching staff.
A message

Our girls leave Gayaza with the academic foundation, the moral compass and the quiet self-belief to lead any room they enter. We educate not for the next exam, but for the next half-century.

The Praecip verdict
What stands out
Gayaza has been turning out the country's top female academics for so long that the question is no longer whether your daughter will succeed, but in which field. The pastoral programme is exceptionally strong and the alumni network, from cabinet ministers to FTSE board members, opens almost any door.
Where it falters
Sports facilities and STEM infrastructure are improving but still trail private peers like ISU. For families weighing breadth-of-experience against pure academic-and-character development, Gayaza tilts the calculus firmly toward the latter.
