  • We are currently seeking a passionate, enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Teacher to join our Primary School for an immediate start. This position has been created in response to increased enrolment and growing class sizes within our Early Years section.
  • Position: Early Years Teacher.
  • Curriculum: Adapted version of the English National Curriculum.
  • Education stage: Early Years / Primary.
  • Position type: Full-time.
  • Start date: Immediate. The ideal candidate would arrive in Uganda on 1st October at the latest.

Job Description

  • As an Early Years Teacher at KISU, you will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment in which young children can develop academically, socially, emotionally and physically.
  • You will plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity, independence and a love of learning. Through a combination of structured activities and purposeful play, you will build children's confidence in developing the expected foundational skills in Early Years.
  • The successful candidate will build strong and positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues, and will work closely with Teaching Assistants and other members of the Early Years team to ensure every child receives the support and challenge they need to thrive.
  • You will also be responsible for monitoring and assessing children's progress, maintaining accurate records and using assessment information to inform future planning and teaching. A strong understanding of child development and the ability to respond to individual needs is essential.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education or a related field (minimum requirement).
  • Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE/PGDE, QTS or equivalent).
  • Minimum two years' experience teaching in Early Years or Foundation Stage.
  • Strong understanding of Early Years pedagogy and child development.
  • Experience working within the Development Matters Framework or a similar international curriculum.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, creative and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
  • Experience using observation and assessment to track children's progress and inform teaching.
  • Excellent classroom management and organisation skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Proficient in using educational technology to enhance learning and communication.
