Job Overview

  • Wagagai Mining is seeking an experienced Electric Mining Truck Technical Instructor to join its team in Kampala. This role centres on training local maintenance personnel in the operation, diagnostics and repair of electric mining truck systems, and on building the technical fluency that keeps a modern, electrified mining fleet running safely.
  • The position involves developing training programmes, delivering hands-on instruction and assessing competency in electric vehicle technologies used across contemporary mining operations. You will work closely with international technical experts to ensure training meets global standards while remaining calibrated to local operating conditions.
  • This is an opportunity to contribute to the growth of Uganda's mining sector by building local capacity in emerging electric mining technology, in direct support of Wagagai Mining's vision for sustainable, technologically advanced operations across Eastern Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive training curricula for electric mining truck maintenance, covering both mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Conduct classroom and practical sessions on fault diagnosis using industry-standard diagnostic tools and software.
  • Train local mechanics to distinguish reliably between mechanical and electrical faults in electric mining truck operations.
  • Establish standard operating procedures for routine maintenance and emergency response scenarios.
  • Assess trainee competency through practical evaluations and written assessments to confirm certification readiness.
  • Update training materials on an ongoing basis, incorporating equipment updates and field-operations feedback.
  • Collaborate with international technical experts to align local training programmes with global best practice.
  • Maintain training records and generate progress reports for management review.

Essential

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Vehicle Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum three years (36 months) of hands-on experience in electric mining truck mechanical technical management or maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex electrical and mechanical faults in heavy-duty mining equipment.
  • Proven skills in teaching, curriculum development and delivering technical training to adult learners.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools specific to electric vehicle systems in mining applications.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a mining environment with exposure to automated or electric mining fleets.
  • Prior experience training technicians or artisans in technical vocational settings.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and protocols governing high-voltage electric mining equipment.
  • Knowledge of Ugandan technical and vocational education and training (TVET) frameworks.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multicultural team alongside international experts.
