Job Overview

  • AsOne Ministries Uganda is hiring Nursery Teachers for AsOne Nursery & Primary School in the Namutumba community. The role contributes to holistic early childhood development in a Christ-centred environment.
  • The position follows Uganda's Early Childhood Development curriculum and expects professional educator standards. You will build a safe, warm and stimulating classroom where children aged three to six can develop the skills that carry them through school. The role is full-time from January 2027, with three positions available.
  • AsOne Ministries is a non-profit working to end poverty through holistic community transformation. Its education work focuses on rural underserved areas, so the role is socially as well as professionally rewarding. Hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and run daily lesson plans that combine spiritual growth with academic learning under the Uganda ECD framework.
  • Create a safe, inclusive classroom that supports positive social interaction and emotional wellbeing.
  • Observe and assess each child's progress across cognitive, motor, language and social domains.
  • Lead age-appropriate activities including play-based learning, storytelling, music, art and outdoor exploration.
  • Keep parents and guardians informed about progress, behaviour and any developmental concerns.
  • Uphold classroom hygiene and safety standards, including proper sanitation of toys and learning materials.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops and school events as required by the Director of Studies.
  • Weave Christian values into daily routines through prayer, Bible stories and character-building activities.

Essential

  • Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Primary Teaching or a related field from a recognised Ugandan institution.
  • Two or more years working with children aged three to six in a nursery, kindergarten or early learning setting.
  • Proficiency in English, spoken and written, for communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Practical understanding of Uganda's Early Childhood Development curriculum in the classroom.
  • Valid certificate of good conduct and willingness to undergo background checks under child protection protocols.

Desirable

  • Diploma or degree in Education, Early Childhood Development or a related discipline.
  • Training in special needs education, child psychology or play therapy.
  • Experience in faith-based or NGO educational environments.
  • Able to make low-cost teaching aids from recycled or natural materials.
  • Able to speak one or more local languages used in the Namutumba region.
