Job Overview

  • AS ONE MINISTRIES UGANDA COMPANY LIMITED is looking for a Head Teacher to provide strategic, spiritual and operational leadership for its school in the Namutumba, Luuka or Serere community. The role owns academic quality, staff welfare, student discipline, financial stewardship and curriculum delivery.
  • You will work closely with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries leadership to turn the organisation's vision into daily school operations. Reporting to the Community Director, the role calls for building a school culture rooted in excellence, integrity and Biblical values while meeting Ministry of Education and Sports requirements. The position begins in January 2027, with one post available per community.
  • As a faith-based institution, AsOne combines academic rigour with spiritual formation. The Head Teacher champions continuous improvement and represents the school to parents, government officials, donors and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the school's strategic direction in line with AsOne Ministries' mission and Christ-centred values.
  • Develop, implement and review strategic and annual operational plans.
  • Set academic, spiritual and operational targets, and track them through regular assessment and data analysis.
  • Represent the school to parents, government education offices, donors and community stakeholders.
  • Meet Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines, policies and regulations in full.
  • Lead school improvement work that raises teaching quality and learning outcomes.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, professional development, performance management and welfare.
  • Run student discipline systems that promote respect and adherence to school values while staying fair.
  • Steward school finances, including budget preparation, expenditure monitoring and transparent reporting.
  • Ensure curriculum delivery integrates academic excellence with Biblical principles across all grades and subjects.

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with a teaching qualification.
  • Five or more years of progressive teaching experience, including at least two in school leadership or administration.
  • Track record of improving academic performance through effective school improvement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan education system, curriculum frameworks and Ministry of Education policy.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging parents, staff and officials.
  • Demonstrated Christian commitment and the ability to provide spiritual leadership in an educational setting.

Desirable

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration or a related field.
  • Experience in faith-based or NGO-managed schools.
  • Familiarity with financial management and school budgeting in resource-constrained settings.
  • Training in child protection, safeguarding and creating safe learning environments.
  • Comfortable using educational technology and data to guide instructional decisions.
  • Experience running community outreach and partnerships with local organisations.
