233 combined teaching and school-leadership positions across Rhino Camp, Imvepi and Bidibidi refugee settlements, funded under the UNHCR/DRC Refugees & Host Community Education Programme. Secondary posts (17) require a minimum Diploma in Secondary Education across Biology/Chemistry, Physics/Mathematics, Agriculture, Economics/History, Business Studies and English/Literature. Primary posts (216) span Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers and Primary Trained Teachers; project-based contracts across Terego, Madi Okollo and Yumbe districts.

Job Overview

  • PALM Corps is a registered national NGO committed to improving the quality of life of vulnerable populations through transformative education and community development initiatives. In partnership with Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and UNHCR, PALM Corps is implementing an education programme in refugee-hosting districts.
  • To address critical staffing gaps and expand access to quality education, PALM Corps invites applications from qualified and motivated individuals to fill the following positions in Rhino Camp, Imvepi and Bidibidi Refugee Settlements.

A. Secondary School Teachers (17 Positions)

  • Duty stations: Imvepi, Rhino Camp (Terego/Madi Okollo).
  • Reports to: Headteacher.

Subject Combinations Required

  • Biology/Chemistry — 6.
  • Physics/Mathematics — 5.
  • Agriculture — 1.
  • Economics/History — 1.
  • Business Studies — 1.
  • English/Literature — 1.
  • Physical Education — 1 (Diploma holders acceptable).

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Conduct continuous assessment and maintain learner records.
  • Manage classroom discipline and promote child safeguarding.
  • Participate in co-curricular and school community activities.
  • Engage in professional development and teacher support initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum Diploma in Secondary Education (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Must be registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).
  • At least 2 years' teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in multicultural and multilingual settings.
  • Strong professional ethics and child protection awareness.

1. Primary Headteachers

  • Imvepi Refugee Settlement — 8.
  • Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement — 11.
  • Reports to: Education Officer.
  • Key responsibilities: provide leadership and overall school administration; supervise and support teaching staff; coordinate with stakeholders (DEO, PTA/SMC, partners); ensure quality teaching, learning and safeguarding standards.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Primary Education (postgraduate qualification an added advantage); minimum two years in school leadership; MoES registration required.

2. Deputy Headteachers

  • Imvepi Refugee Settlement — 8.
  • Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement — 12.
  • Reports to: Headteacher.
  • Key responsibilities: support school administration and teacher supervision; ensure discipline, performance monitoring and learner welfare; assist in stakeholder engagement and reporting.
  • Qualifications: minimum Diploma in Education (Degree preferred); at least two years' leadership experience; MoES registration required.

3. Primary Trained Teachers

  • Imvepi — 82.
  • Rhino Camp — 75.
  • Bidibidi — 20.
  • Reports to: Headteacher.
  • Key responsibilities: plan and deliver lessons; conduct assessments and track learner progress; maintain class records and ensure learner safety; participate in co-curricular and safeguarding activities.
  • Qualifications: minimum Grade III Teaching Certificate; Diploma in Primary Education is an added advantage; must be registered with MoES; at least two years' teaching experience preferred.

General Requirements (All Positions)

  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong understanding of child safeguarding principles.
  • Ability to work in hardship and multicultural environments.
  • Recommendation letter confirming good conduct (no protection violations).
