About

What this school is, in plain words

Kampala International School Uganda is a long-established IB World School in the Bukoto suburb, authorised across the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Founded in 1993, KISU serves a multinational community and runs the full IB continuum from Early Years through to the Diploma.

To build one genuine international community where every child is known by name, and where learning is inquiry rather than a race to an exam.

KISU founding vision, 1993

Class sizes are kept small and teaching is inquiry-led in the IB tradition, with a faculty drawn from across the UK, East Africa and beyond. The school is known for a warm, family feel relative to the larger international campuses, and for strong pastoral structures alongside its academic programme.

A message

From the head of school

We are a genuinely international community where every child is known. The IB continuum lets us hold one consistent philosophy from Early Years to the Diploma, education as inquiry, not as a race to an exam.

The Praecip verdict

A warm, full-continuum IB World School with a genuine community feel

What stands out

KISU offers the complete IB arc, PYP through Diploma, in a smaller, more intimate setting than the largest campuses. Families consistently praise the pastoral care and the sense that every child is known by name.

Where it falters

Facilities are good rather than expansive, and sports provision is tighter than the largest campuses. For families wanting the IB continuum without the scale of bigger schools, KISU is a strong fit.
