About

What this school is, in plain words

Set on Buziga Hill with views over Lake Victoria, Rainbow International School Uganda is an IB World School running the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Established in 1992, it draws a diverse student body from the surrounding Muyenga and Buziga neighbourhoods and the wider expatriate community.

To make the hillside itself part of the classroom, and to raise children as curious about the world as they are confident within it.

Rainbow founding vision, 1992

The school combines the IB framework with a strong arts and outdoor-learning tradition, making use of its green hillside campus for environmental and service-learning projects woven through the programmes.

A message

From the principal

Our hillside campus is part of the curriculum. We want children who are academically confident and also curious about the world beyond the classroom, exactly what the IB learner profile asks for.

The Praecip verdict

IB continuum on a green hillside campus, strong on arts and outdoor learning

What stands out

Rainbow offers the full IB continuum in a leafy Buziga setting, with a distinctive emphasis on the arts and environmental learning. Results are solid and the community is welcoming.

Where it falters

It is smaller and less moneyed than the flagship campuses, so facilities are modest, but the hillside grounds and the outdoor-learning ethos are genuine differentiators for the right family.

Lovely green campus and a strong arts programme. Facilities are simple but the teaching is warm and serious.
